Blake Lively is setting trends with her unique fashion statements!

While promoting her newly introduced haircare line, Blake Brown, the It Ends with Us actress, told PEOPLE what inspires her unique and creative looks.

Describing herself as a shy person, she said, “If I'm going to go somewhere, I tend to choose a character. It’s like, ‘What Spice Girl am I today? Or which character of S*x in the City?’

Reflecting on her 2024 Super Bowl appearance, Lively wore a striking red Adidas tracksuit with tappered pants, whose hems were seamlessly stitched to pointed-toe stocking stilettos. She accessorized her look with multiple layers of Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

“I don’t think I was supposed to wear all that jewelry together,” the Green Lantern actress quipped.

She continued to add, “Because I style myself, I was like, what's the sort of character that allows me to go out to something that's a lot of stimulation and attention [like the Super Bowl]… What’s the way in?”

Lively’s eccentric and distinctive method of dressing has set a major trend in the industry, inspiring many other A-listers to follow suit, such as Margot Robbie as Barbie or Zendaya’s tenniscore promo tour for Challengers.

“I'm so excited method dressing is such a thing now because years ago when I did A Simple Favor, people were like, ‘Why are you dressing like your character? Why are you in suits?,’” said the actress, referring to her 2018 promotional tour for the Paul Feig film, noting that she has just wrapped up filming an upcoming sequel.

As there was a lack of marketing budget for the small film, she decided to use a fashion tactic. Wearing a men’s suit, the Rhythm Section actress aimed to generate buzz and spark curiosity about her movie.

Her approach, she noted, was a successful marketing hack.
