King Charles especially honored cousin Prince Edward on his 89th birthday today, on October 9.

Carrying on with his usual tradition of wishing active royal members through social media, he extended a merry round of wishes to him through the royal family’s official Instagram profile.

A collage was uploaded to the account’s story in the morning with three photographs of Prince Edward smiling bright as he fulfilled his regal duties.

“Wishing The Duke of Kent a very Happy 89th Birthday today!” the greeting cheered on, sealed with a delicious cake emoji.

For the unversed, Prince Edward is a first cousin of King Charles’ father Prince Philip, making them second and first cousins once removed.

But there’s another twist as well!

King Charles has a younger brother named Prince Edward, who is the Duke of Edinburgh as well as Duchess Sophie’s husband.

Meanwhile, the Duke of Kent is married to Duchess Kent, so the two of them shall not be confused, even though it’s quite easy to mix them up.

While Your Majesty has wished him on reaching an extraordinary age today, Prince William and Kate Middleton are yet to follow.
