Queen Rania continues to speak out for the rights of Gaza’s people.

On Wednesday, April 9, the Queen of Jordan turned to her official Instagram handle to share a photograph of hers with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni.

The Queen, who is on a brief visit to Rome, met the Prime Minister to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, advocate for the rights of its people, and push for efforts to improve the situation.

Alongside the snap, the Queen captioned, “Speaking to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni about the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, earlier today.”

The meeting was held at Villa Doria Pamphili, where Rania was warmly received by Giorgia.

During their meeting, Queen Rania also highlighted the lack of food, medical supplies, and basic necessities following the suspension of aid deliveries into the Strip, according to a statement released by the Office of Her Majesty.

As per the Jordan Times, the statement also mentioned, “During the courtesy meeting, Her Majesty thanked the Prime Minister for Italy’s humanitarian support and its provision of aid to Gaza’s population. She also underscored the Strip’s growing orphan crisis, where more than 39,000 babies and children have lost one or both parents.”

Queen Rania and PM Giorgia Meloni also had a discussion on significance of projects in education and child and family protection in Jordan, which are supported by the Italian Development Cooperation.
