Macy Gray claims the American flag is no longer representative of their nation: ‘Now the flag is too white?!’

Singer Macy Gray’s demand that it was time for a new flag which would clearly represent the American nation was met with a hue and cry from both sides.

The ‘I Try’ singer Macy Gray called out for a new American flag with two more stars and a change in colour, questioning their symbolic meaning. Her statement raised a controversy on social media.

The singer spoke on MarketWatch that the present flag was “a symbol of opposition to the abolishment of slavery.”

The Grammy-winning singer said that the flag was “tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect” and that “it no longer represents democracy and freedom.” She continued by saying that 62 years down the road, it was time to “reset” the flag.

Macy’s comments were met with strong opposition.

One person tweeted, "WTAF?! Now the flag is too white?! Maybe Macy Gray needs to spend some time with our service members for a little perspective."

Another said, "Macy Gray should recognize that the Flag she wants to replace was the Flag that these soldiers died under while trying to free African-American slaves from Democrats."

Another commented, "Cancel Macy Gray and anyone else that has a problem with the American Flag."

Some people were of the same opinion as Macy.

A person wrote, "Ironic, those denouncing Macy Gray are the same ones who applaud the Insurrectionists who beat Capitol police w/American flags. They also support autocracy & Putin. So which red, white & blue are you supporting? The hypocrisy is galling.”

Recently, Macy with The California Jet Club, released their single, debut, Thinking of You.
