The New York Yankees paid heartfelt tribute to Charlie Krik before its game against the Detroit Tigers.

According to Fox News, Yankees held a moment of silence for American right-wing political activist Krik, who was shot dead at the Utah Valley University on Wednesday, September 10.

The Wednesday game between the Yankees and the Tigers at Yankee Stadium began with a moment of silence for Kirk while his picture with the text “Remembering Charlie Kirk” was displayed on the main scoreboard.

The MLB (Major League Baseball) team in a post on X wrote, “Before tonight's game we held a moment of silence in memoriam of Charlie Kirk. Kirk founded the youth activist group ‘Turning Point USA’ and had become a fixture on college campuses. Charlie Kirk, a husband and father of two children, was 31 years old.”

The conservative activist was declared dead shortly after being shot during a campus event at Utah Valley University, where he was addressing the large number of students.

US President Donald Trump confirmed his ally Krik’s death with a post on Truth Social and his and First Lady Melania Trump’s sympathies to the right-wing talk show host’s wife, Erika, and family.

The shock and tragic death of the Turning Point USA founder sparked emotional responses from prominent sports figures, former Yankee Mark Teixeira and New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart.
