Kuwait's administration claimed an Iranian attack has sparked a “huge fire” at its international airport.
The Iranian drone attack struck fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday, sparking a massive fire, Kuwait's state news agency KUNA said.
The latest of several attacks on the airport and fuel storage came as the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran broadens with Tehran's strikes on Israel and Gulf Arab states that host U.S. military installations.
The latest attack caused major damage to airport fuel tanks belonging to the Kuwait Aviation Fueling Company, the agency cited.
"Kuwait International Airport has been subjected to blatant attacks by drones launched by Iran and the armed factions it supports," KUNA quoted the spokesman of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation as saying.
The spokesman, Abdullah Al‑Rajhi, said, "Fuel storage tanks... were targeted, resulting in a large fire at the site," reporting no casualties.
Iran has fired missiles and drones at Israel and US allies in the Gulf since the start of the war, which began with US-Israeli strikes against the Islamic republic on February 28.
Bahrain's interior ministry in the Gulf said on Wednesday that a fire broke out at a business facility "as a result of the Iranian aggression."
Saudi Arabia's defence ministry also claimed that several drones were "intercepted and destroyed."
A tanker was also hit in the waters off Qatar, a British maritime security agency said.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations said it had received a report of an incident 17 nautical miles (31 kilometres) north of Doha in which a "tanker has been hit by an unknown projectile on the port side, causing damage to the hull above the waterline. The crew is reported as safe."
The news just came the day after two major ports in Kuwait were set ablaze during the latest strikes and drone attacks in the region amid ongoing US-Iran tensions.
