In a remarkable move, Google introduced a range of features to its video editor app Vids, including customising avatars and directing via text prompts, Veo 3.1.
With this significant update, users will be able to use natural language prompts to direct avatars to “act” in a scene, including the avatar interacting with a product, a prop, or a piece of equipment.
The Alphabet-owned Google stated that based on the theme of the video, users can easily customize characters by tweaking appearance, changing apparel, and generating new backgrounds via prompts.
In February, Google added its Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro music creation models to Vids to allow users add sound effects or music to their clips.
With this release, Google is introducing the Veo 3.1 video-generation model that is able to generate eight-second clips within the video editing tool.
Google is currently giving out 10 free generations every month to all users. The company said Google AI Ultra and Workspace AI Ultra accounts will be able to create nearly 1,000 Veo videos every month.
Moreover, the company has brought a new screen-recording Chrome extension to the video suite, enabling users to capture the screen with video or audio.
Notably, Google has been adding a range of features to Vids after first unveiling the product in 2024 to cater to enterprise content creation, aiming to compete with its rivals.
