Perez Hilton's family has spoken out for the first time after the blogger was rushed to a hospital following a self-harm act on a livestream.
In a statement shared on Perez's main website on Wednesday, August 5, his family and team shared a major update about his condition with his fans.

"Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers," the statement read, confirming that the blogger was receiving medical care.
"Our family's focus right now is on his well-being," the statement continued. "We kindly ask that you respect Perez's privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time. If and when we are able to share any updates, we will do so with everyone as soon as we can. Thank you for your compassion, understanding, and continued support."
Police responded to Perez's home after the office received "multiple calls" about a person hurting themselves on a livestream.
In the clips reposted on social media, the blogger could be seen covered in blood as he used an object to cut himself repeatedly.

According to dispatch audio, authorities received reports of a "possible suicide" at around 6:51 p.m. local time on Tuesday, August 4, and around 10:41 p.m., an alleged suicide attempt at the 48-year-old's Miami residence was logged.
Per dispatch, authorities "made entry" into his home shortly after. Then, at around 11:30 p.m., responding units were "en route" to a local hospital.

Amid Perez Hilton making headlines for his alarming livestream, many netizens unfamiliar with the blogger questioned his connection to iconic media personality and the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, Paris Hilton.
Perez, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, is not related to Paris.
He chose the pseudonym "Perez Hilton" in 2004 as a play on Paris Hilton, who was a massive pop-culture icon when he launched his celebrity gossip blog.
