Russell Brand, who is facing multiple rape and sexual assault charges in the UK, is set to headline a big event in New York.
The Get Him to the Greek star, who has pleaded not guilty to three rape charges and several sexual assault allegations in the UK, is set to headline the United We Stand tour stop at New York’s Ram’s Head Inn.
The speaking event is organized by the electoral reform group Free & Equal.
The Shelter Island Conference has billed Brand as an “author, broadcaster & independent voice” for a discussion focused on capital, sovereignty and self-governance.
Management seemingly viewed Brand’s inclusion as adding another voice to the event’s diverse lineup, which also features Ron Paul, Joe Kent, Sheriff Mack, Patrick Byrne, David Walker, Michael Terpin and Joby Weeks.
Russell Brand sexual assault charges
In April 2025, British police charged the Hop star with rape and sexual assault following an 18-month investigation.
He responded to those charges by saying online at the time, “I’ve never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes.”
Brand faced two more rape charges in December linked to allegations from two other women, and again pleaded not guilty.
In February, he pleaded not guilty to five earlier charges over alleged offences between 1999 and 2005, with a trial set for June.
A hearing will decide whether the new allegations should be added to the existing case, with a case management hearing set for March.
Brand appeared in court to confirm his identity and latest not-guilty pleas.
He carried a bookmarked Bible into court and was granted bail pending a future Southwark Crown Court hearing.
Detectives began investigating him in 2023 following reports by the Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches.
Essex-born Brand rose to fame as a stand-up comedian and TV and radio host before building a Hollywood career with films including Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek.
