Tom Holland’s father has revealed he was left shivering in the garden of his favourite pub after his son’s recommendation sent Spider-Man fans flocking to the venue.
Dominic Holland said his go-to pub has become a hotspot for Spider-Man fans ever since his famous son gave the establishment a shout-out.
The 59-year-old comedian recalled sitting “shivering” in the pub’s garden after arriving recently for an early evening meal, as the venue was already packed.
Writing on his Substack blog, Dominic said he was glad the pub was attracting more customers but admitted he was less pleased that he could no longer get his usual seat.
In a media interview, Tom praised The Cocoanut in Kingston-upon-Thames, describing it as one of his favourite places to dine when he is in London.
But his praise appears to have sparked a fan rush to the venue, with Dominic noting that he had “never seen the place so busy”.
Dominic Holland about his experience
Dominic wrote about pub, “Little did we know we would need to eat in the sodding garden because the place was already packed.”
He added, “At 7pm! Getting a table in a restaurant in one of the big markers of success. I have never reached such dizzying heights, but I would always back myself at the Cocoanut. Not now, however, since people are travelling far and wide to dine where their heroes eat.”
Dominic said the Spider-Man star and his wife, Zendaya, can visit the establishment and eat in peace without being hassled by other patrons.
He hoped the pub retains its popularity and relaxed atmosphere, where customers can dine without being bothered.
Dominic blamed the UK government’s taxes and regulations for the closure of two pubs daily, but welcomed Tom’s celebrity status for bringing in business — even if it means he struggles to get a seat himself.
