Rohit Shetty has finally answered the big question: why was his 2022 film Cirkus made?
According to The Indian Express, Shetty explained why he made the film, referencing what the film industry went through during COVID-19.
He said, “Sooryavanshi was not released, The Indian Police Force was about to start, and we had an eight-month gap because the pandemic was going on, so what should we do? Workers were sitting at home.”
Adding that he would 'never touch' the same script today, the director said that the movie was only created to keep everyone busy, which eventually pulled them out of COVID-19’s distress.
After Sunday and Zameen, Cirkus is Rohit’s third devastating flop in a career of over two decades.
It was harshly blasted by most Bollywood critics, being called “a mess that has no respect for audience” and “a piece that couldn’t deliver even after assembling a huge cast.”
Rohit will however be returning to the cinemas with the third installment in his Singham franchise, with Singham Again, taking another shot at a production comprising of numerous actors.
The cast includes Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jackie Shroff, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Tiger Shroff.
