Varun Dhawan and Tiger Shroff are currently in talks for playing the lead roles in the sequel of the 2011 romcom Desi Boyz.
Murmurs about this instalment have been making rounds for several years, and now it has been confirmed by a report from Hindustan Times that the original duo of Akshay Kumar and John Abraham has been dropped out as a possibility.
As for the new cast’s female counterparts, an insider has informed that Ananya Panday is being considered as Varun’s love interest whereas the potential romantic partner for Tiger is still being discussed, although there are “no specific names in mind yet.”
So far, there is no news about Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh being brought back on set.
“The film might feature a mix of old and new cast members, as it should appeal to a younger generation,” producer Anand Pandit informed when he announced the sequel last year.
It has additionally been told that Desi Boyz 2 will be based on a different story, especially because the heroes have been replaced. Even before this revelation, it was already expected that the film will hold no connection with the original storyline.
