Mithun Chakraborty has been admitted to Kolkata’s Apollo Hospital after having suffered a brain stroke.

On the morning of February 10, he was feeling discomfort in the chest area as well as “weakness in right upper and lower limbs,” and so was taken for proper medical care.

Doctors have issued an official statement regarding the actor’s condition, saying that he has been kept under observation by a team.

As per India TV News, Mithun suffered the most common type of cerebral stroke, called Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident, which happens when plaque buildup damages arteries, leading to the formation of a blood clot.

The hospital stated, “He was brought to the Emergency Department around 9.40 am. Necessary laboratory and radiology investigations were carried out including an MRI of the brain. Presently, he is fully conscious, well-oriented and has consumed soft diet.”

Before being diagnosed, Mithun’s eldest son, Mahakshay, informed Indian Express that the celebrity was totally fine and was just being taken for a routine check-up.

But after further evaluation, a gastroenterologist, a neuro-physician, and a cardiologist have been assigned for safe his keeping.
