Dolly Parton has come out to support Elle King, who was facing immense backlash for drunkenly messing up a tribute to the much-acclaimed celebrity at the Grand Ole Opry.

The Jolene singer told Extra TV, “Elle is really a great artist. She's a great girl, and she's been going through of hard things lately, and she just had a little too much to drink.”

“So let’s forgive that and forget it and move on, cause she felt worse than anybody ever could,” she added.

Last month, Elle was lined up for a concert at the Grand Ole Opry alongside notable artists like Ashley Monroe, Terri Clark, and Tigirlily Gold.

While singing the 2001 track, Marry Me, in honor of Dolly’s 78th birthday celebration, she forgot the lyrics, then engaged in a verbal spat with a concertgoer.

The young singer told her audience, “I don't know the lyrics to these things in this fu*** town! Don't tell Dolly 'cause it's her birthday.”

She additionally admitted to not being sober on stage and after completing her performance remarked, “Everyone's like, holy sh*t, we bought tickets to this, I'm not even going to lie.”

Since then, things were heating up for Elle as many people slammed her on TikTok and demanded a refund.
