Randeep Hooda has disclosed that he locked himself inside a prison cell while playing the lead for freedom fighter Veer Savarkar’s upcoming biopic.
Recounting the experience, he wrote, “During the recce on his biopic I tried to lock myself inside this cell to feel what he must have gone through. I couldn’t stay locked for even 20 minutes where he was locked for 11 years often in solitary confinement.”
“I imagined the unparalleled endurance of #VeerSavarkar who endured the cruelty and inhuman conditions of the imprisonment and yet managed to build and inspire the armed revolution,” the actor added.
He accompanied this revelation with a few photos posted on Instagram as a tribute to the writer on his death anniversary, which is dated February 26.
As seen in the images, the brick-baked jail’s size was noted to be 7 by 11 foot, and it only had one small barred window for ventilation.
Veer was sentenced to spend 50 years in confinement there, and Randeep will be seen retelling his story in Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.
Its set to be released on March 22, coinciding with Martyrs’ Day.
