Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama passed away at 68 on March 1, 2024, the news of his death was confirmed on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

The official Twitter account of the Japanese animated series shared a post to express their emotions, while announcing the news of Toriyama’s death, noting, “We are deeply saddened to inform you that Manga creator Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1st due to acute subdural hematoma.”

It further continued, “Thanks to the support of so many people around the world, he has been able to continue his creative activities for over 45 years. We hope that Akira Toriyama's unique world of creation continues to be loved by everyone for a long time to come.”

Dargon Ball Z X account also confirmed that Toriyama’s funeral has already been done privately “with his family and very few relatives.”

In addition to this, the family members and loved ones of the Manga creator have also requested everyone to respect their privacy, while clarifying they will not be entertaining any visitors during this time, nor give interviews to the press.

Akira Toriyama died of acute subdural hematoma, a medical condition in which blood collects between the skull and the surface of the brain.
