Former US president Donald Trump blasted Jimmy Kimmel for his hosting gig at the 96th Academy Awards, held on Sunday in Los Angeles.

Taking to his official website, Truth Social on Sunday, Trump expressed his thoughts on the opening of the Oscars 2024 noting, "Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at the Oscars. His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be.”

He also proposed that the host of ABC's Sunday morning news program This Week, whose name was typed incorrectly as "George Slopanopoulos" to take Kimmel's place, adding that, "he would make everyone on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous."

The 77-year-old politician further noted, “There was a terrible politically correct show tonight that has been unfair, disjointed, and uninteresting for years. Why don't they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them.”

Meanwhile, Kimmel who hosted the studded event on Sunday night, poked fun at the former US president while reading his post in front of the audience.

Kimmel sarcastically responded to Trumps suggestion, asking, "See if you can guess which former president just posted that on Truth Social."

He then thanked Trump for watching the Oscars, asking, “Isn’t it past your jail time?”
