A 20-year-old mother, Esperanza Rae Harding, drowned her 8-month-old child in the bathtub of a hotel.
The incident took place at a hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota, on February 28.
Harding drowned her son, Mateo, in the bathtub at a Bloomington hotel because he reportedly 'cried and disturbed' her bath time, according to the court documents.
Edwin Trudeau, 18, Harding's boyfriend, is also seemingly involved, according to the police, and also didn't ask for help despite being present at the time of crime.
In fact, as per authorities, Trudeau instead recommended throwing Mateo's body in the garbage.
Harding brought the dead body of her child to a children's hospital in an attempt to hide the crime on March 1, claiming natural causes had taken his life.
However, inconsistent statements from her and the absence of Mateo's medical history caused hospital workers to become concerned.
After being questioned extensively, Harding allegedly admitted to drowning Mateo and stuffing him in a backpack.
She further stated that she felt compelled by her boyfriend Trudeau to choose him over her child. She also claimed that her partner did not like Mateo and even suggested that he be placed for adoption.
Harding then likened herself and Trudeau to infamous criminals Bonnie and Clyde, sharing that her partner urged her to remain silent after killing her baby.
