A.R. Rahman has opened up about his experience of working with Imtiaz Ali, labeling the director’s latest venture, Chamkila, as an incredibly naughty flick.

In a recent interview with News18, he said, “It is a very naughty picture. We had to find the place for music. Chamkila is a composer, lyricist, and singer. The question I asked was, ‘Why am I needed?’ ”

“We can make it like a musical where everybody sings about Chamkila. Blaming him for the good or the bad. That’s the director’s point of view and that was exciting,” the musician continued.

He was taken on board for composing the movie’s soundtrack. It happens to be the fourth time that he has teamed up with Imtiaz after Rockstar, Highway, and Tamasha.

Speaking about their collaboration, Rahman stated, “I love working with him. He is very friendly. With certain people, work happens [just] like that. With him, there’s never been pressure at all.”

Then, he moved on to say a few words regarding what they’ve been cooking up lately.

“I always wanted to do Punjabi music. I love the potency in the language in music. So this was a great opportunity,” the celebrity revealed.

In his brilliantly elaborate career, he has only composed less than a dozen Punjabi tracks.

Interestingly, three of these were Katiya Karoon, Patakha Guddi, and Wat Wat Wat – one from each of the films he has done with Imtiaz.

It’s commonly known that both he and Rahman share a common love for the language.
