Farah Khan has disclosed that her family members advised against her getting married at just age 22, promising to leave the star homeless if she didn’t listen.
Sitting for a chat on Nova IVF Fertility’s YouTube channel, the choreographer stated that neither marriage nor motherhood were in plans until Shirish Kunder crossed paths with her.
She said, “Marriage was not on my mind at all. At 22 or something, I thought I will get married, but I have a weird family. They got together and said, ‘We will kick you out of the house if you get married this young.’ ”
“My mother said, ‘I’ll throw you out of the house. You have to make something of your life. You have to be financially independent before you get married,’ ” Farah elaborated.
And so, the celebrity postponed all wedding ideas until age 39, when Shirish tied the knot with her in 2004.
She further revealed that co-workers from Bollywood had raised doubts regarding their big day.
“No one thought I am going to get married or that I am going to stay married. This very famous director was asked, ‘Are you attending Farah’s wedding?’ He said ‘no, but I will attend the next one’. So I was like I’ll show you, wait,’ ” Farah mentioned.
It has now almost been 20 years of her getting hitched, but she has given all credit to their children for keeping them together so long.
