Jaya Bachchan has put her relationship with husband Amitabh Bachchan into the spotlight.
She was present on the famous podcast, What The Hell Navya, where her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda had asked, “If two people are just friends, is it correct to put romance in between a friendship?”
To this, the veteran actress replied by referencing her own bond: “My closest friends are inside my house. It’s true, my husband is my best friend. I don’t hide anything from him.”
Navya immediately responded with an “aww,” adding, “When Nani’s friends come over, they get to talk to her in a certain way that we can’t. I find it so funny because they tick her off.”
Also present in this session was Shweta Bachchan-Nanda, who chimed in by questioning, “I don’t know why everyone likes to say, ‘My daughter is my best friend’ or ‘My son is my best friend.’ ”
A surprised Jaya counter-inquired, “Why can’t your children be your friends?”
“We are not friends. You are my mother. There are certain lines that I cannot cross with you. My children are my children and my friends are my friends,” Shweta tried settling the dust.
But, then, Navya thoughtfully proposed, “Now you are a parent and she is a parent. So you both can be friends.”
Her podcast brings the same set of women from her family to discuss various topics by pooling mindsets from different generations together.
This time, they have addressed the ongoing rumors about the Bachchan family rift, which claim that Jaya and Amitabh live in separate quarters because they aren’t on good terms.
