Josh Duggar was arrested three years ago on charges of child pornography possession.

Before that, the former actor was accused of molesting five girls as a teenager, and later on in 2015, admitted to having an internet pornography addiction as well as cheating on his wife, Anna Renee Duggar.

Now spending time in prison, here’s everything to read about his case.

Arrest

It was in May 2019 that Josh Duggar was accused of “downloading child sexual abuse material” for the first time by Homeland Security Investigators (HIS).

As per People, federal prosecutors stated in the same month that he had “allegedly used the internet to download child sexual abuse material,” which included footages of children aged under 12.

On April 29, 2021, the ex-celebrity was arrested and strictly held in an Arkansas jail. This happened just a few days after that Anna had announced that she was pregnant with their seventh child.

Sentence

Cut to November 20, 2021, Josh Duggar’s trial commenced in a federal courtroom of the same state.

A verdict was finalized on December 9, 2021, which was when a jury found him guilty of two charges related to child pornography: receiving and possessing it.

The sentence decided in May 2022 was to serve over 12 years in federal prison as well as pay for special assessments and fines costing $50,100.

Where Is the Reality TV Actor Now?

Currently, Josh Duggar is serving his sentence time at FCI Seagoville, which is a jail for male inmates that’s situated in Texas.

Although he was going to be released somewhere in August 2032, his sentence has been extended by two months because of possessing a cell phone while in prison, as reported by USA Today.

Now, he will be let go in October 2032.

How did Josh Duggar’s family react?

While some members of the convicted offender’s family stood by him, others are good with his punishment.

One of these is his younger sister, Jill Duggar Dillard, who is also a former television personality and was one of his molestation victims alongside other sister, Jessa Duggar Seewald.

Speaking to People Magazine last year in September, she expressed of still harboring anger toward his brother.

Cousin Amy Duggar King said, “I want him to stay as long as he can because he can't hurt children. He can't view that disgustingness and his kids hopefully are safe as well.”
