Prince William stepped out of Adelaide Cottage for his first royal engagement after being handed a major role by King Charles.

On Thursday, May 16, he was in attendance at an event held at the Royal Society located in London, only three days off the bat when his father appointed him as the “Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps.”

Once there, the Prince of Wales spoke on the global efforts required for strong health system together with climate resiliency and food security needed by every nation to address antimicrobial resistance.

Upon his arrival, pictures were taken as he shook hands with guests one-by-one, then was taken to a seat placed in the first row arranged for the conference, which was titled “The World Together Solving the Antibiotic Emergency.”

As reported by GB News, antimicrobial resistance occurs when infection-causing microbes develop resistance to medical treatments, such as the effect of antibiotics, thus making the disease very difficult and sometimes even impossible to defeat.

Prince William heard stories from antimicrobial resistance survivors, followed by an update session given by Lord Darzi on The Fleming Initiative.

Just last year, the Prince of Wales had become a patron of appeal for establishing this worldwide initiative.
