Parineeti Chopra, who is being praised for her work in Imtiaz Ali's Amar Singh Chamkila, said that she doesn't regret gaining weight for the role and looking her "worst."

During her recent interview, the Ishaqzaade actress, who gained at least 15kgs weight for her character Amarjot in the film, reveled, "Imtiaz sir told me to gain 15 kg and said there would be no makeup on my face. I had to look my worst in Chamkila, and I said, 'I will do it,"

While reflecting on how Parineeti's peers from the industry warned her against gaining weight she took inspiration from Vidya Balan who also gained weight for The Dirty Picture.

“Vidya Balan inspired me to take up the challenge because she did it for The Dirty Picture,” said Parineeti adding, “As I was shooting for Chamkila for over two years, I lost out on a lot of work. I looked my worst and there were pregnancy and plastic surgery rumours, too.”

Discussing her decision to avoid public appearances during this period, as well as the challenges of being away from work, the Hasee Toh Phasee actress shared, “During the two years of shooting for 'Chamkila,' I missed out on many opportunities. There were times when I didn't feel my best, and unfortunately, rumors about pregnancy and plastic surgery also circulated."

“I was hardly seen on any red carpet. I wasn’t even papped. Fashion had taken a back seat because I didn’t look like myself. I don’t look like myself even now. But I would still prefer 10 Chamkilas over a red carpet appearance,” she added.

Parineeti Chopra also received praises from her cousin Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who shared a still from the film on her Instagram with a caption, “Congratulations Imtiaz sir, Diljit, Tisha, and the team. Looks so good.”
