Sadiq Khan, the son of an immigrant Pakistani bus driver, has been elected as the Mayor of London for a historic third time, as per BBC reports.

Labour Party sources have confirmed Khan's victory in the recent local elections across England.

Khan is well-known for his vocal stance against injustices faced by Palestinians and has been a strong advocate for various reforms during his time in office.

His pledges include improving access to free school meals, making housing more affordable, increasing police presence, and building more council houses.

As reported by multiple outlets, Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer praised Khan's win, acknowledging his dedication to the city and its residents.

"Sadiq Khan has proven himself as Mayor by his work during both terms," remarked Sir Keir Starmer.

Meanwhile, before serving as mayor, Khan served as a member of Parliament from 2005 to 2016 and holds a law degree from the University of London.

Additionally, Khan's initiatives, such as the ‘Hopper’ fare scheme, have revolutionized London's transportation system, allowing passengers to switch between buses and trams within an hour.

Furthermore, he also introduced the controversial Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) scheme to tackle air pollution in the city, a move applauded by environmental activists.
