Camila Cabello has explained the block of ice that she carried as a clutch to Met Gala 2024.
In a recent interview with Extra, the singer said that the custom-made Jane Wade piece was her interpretation of the Ball’s theme, which was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” blended with a “Garden of Time dress code.”
It was actually supposed to be a purse until it broke and turned into a clutch she had to hand-carry.
“I feel like it is impermanence and things decaying over time and the beauty in that,” Camila Cabello expressed the inspiration behind choosing to pick something as slippery as that sidepiece.
Coming to its description, the clutch was made to exactly reflect a cuboid-shaped chunk of frozen water.
It was crystal-clear so that the contents packed inside were visible, and what was deep-dried in it was a single copper rose sleeping in between jammed water bubbles, completing Camila Cabello’s glacial style that included a silver Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown.
According to Vogue, the flower was a call back to a similar one that was printed on this year’s Met Gala invitation.
