Ukraine claims it turned back Russian attack
Regional head Oleh Syniehubov said not a single meter had been lost in the attack

Ukraine has claimed that it has turned down a Russian armoured attack in the northeastern Kharkiv region on Friday, May 10.

According to BBC, the Ukrainian defence ministry informed, “At approximately 05:00, there was an attempt by the enemy to break through our defensive line under the cover of armoured vehicles. As of now, these attacks have been repulsed, and fighting of varying intensity continues.”

The defence ministry in Kyiv further informed that the attack was started with heavy bombing ‘using guided aerial bombs’ with the support of artillery in the town of Vovchansk. After this, small Russian ‘scouting groups’ moved in across the border in several places.

Moreover, the Kharkiv regional head Oleh Syniehubov described that Russian reconnaissance groups had tried to penetrate the border; however, ‘not a single meter has been lost.’

As per the regional head, at least one person was killed, while five were injured in the barrage.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, “Russia has launched a new wave of counteroffensive operations in the Kharkiv sector.”

Additionally, Andriy Kovalenko, the head of Ukraine’s Centre for Countering Disinformation, asserted that Russia had the capability to aggravate the situation in border areas but not the ability to capture Ukraine’s city.
