CEO of SpaceX, Elon Musk is set to visit Indonesia this Sunday to launch Starlink satellite internet service.
As per Reuters, Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, a close ally of President Joko Widodo, revealed that Musk would launch the service on the holiday island of Bali alongside the Indonesian leader.
While, Indonesian officials had previously announced Musk's possible visits for various events or investment talks regarding his auto company Tesla.
This marks his first in-person appearance in the country, whereas Musk had previously addressed conferences in Indonesia via video link.
Meanwhile, Minister Luhut said in an official statement on Wednesday that Musk is also scheduled to address the World Water Forum in Bali.
As per Communications Minister Budi Arie Setiadi, the Starlink launch event is planned at a clinic in Denpasar, Bali's capital, where Musk is expected to finalize an agreement regarding internet connectivity for the health sector.
However, Starlink recently obtained a permit to offer its internet services commercially in Indonesia, signaling progress in the venture.
Moreover, Starlink will cooperate with local network access providers and Indonesia expects the firm to provide internet services to its remote areas.
