Dabney Coleman, who specialized in smarmy villains, has left a void in the hearts of fans with his death.
Coleman was found dead at his residence in Santa Monica on Thursday.
His daughter Quincy Coleman released a statement to the Associated Press regarding her dad’s passing.
“He took his last earthly breath peacefully and exquisitely,” Quincy stated.
While Coleman’s American co-actor Ben Stiller also broke silence on the death via a tweet, “The great Dabney Coleman literally created, or defined, really — in a uniquely singular way — an archetype as a character actor. He was so good at what he did it’s hard to imagine movies and television of the last 40 years without him.”
Coleman contributed a lot to the industry for two long decades, laboring in movies and TV shows as a largely talented but unnoticed performer.
He gained widespread acclaim for essaying the role of a corrupt mayor of the hamlet of Fernwood Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, a satirical soap opera.
For the unversed, Dabney Coleman also won a Golden Globes for The Slap Maxwell story and an Emmy for the best supporting actor in the small screen legal drama titled Sworn to Silence.
