Apple is reportedly working on the second generation of AirTag, expected to launch  in the middle of 2025.

According to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the Cupertino-based tech giant has commenced trial runs of the new device, aiming for enhanced location tracking and additional user-friendly features.

However, this marks the first upgrade to AirTag since its introduction in April 2021.

Internally referred to as B589, the second-generation AirTag is speculated to boast a new chipset for improved location accuracy, alongside enhancements such as extended battery life, louder speaker, and a sleeker design suitable for wallets.

There's also anticipation regarding potential anti-stalking measures, considering controversies surrounding the initial release of AirTag and subsequent legal challenges faced by Apple.

While, initial plans for mass production, as reported by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in October 2023, were postponed to 2025, aligning with current developments.

Despite earlier speculation of a launch during Apple's March event, the revised timeline suggests a potential unveiling during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025 or thereafter.

However, Apple is also expected to announce several advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) at WWDC 2024, scheduled for June 10.

Moreover, following growing competition and pressure from rivals, the tech giant aims to bolster Siri with enhanced AI integration and introduce AI features to its Safari browser, aiming to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI technology.
