Prince William has unexpectedly cancelled his scheduled engagements for today, after an official statement issued by Buckingham Palace.

The Kingston Palace shared a statement as per Hello!, "We look forward to rescheduling in the future and are extremely sorry to anyone who has already travelled."

This notification came following King Charles and Queen Camilla announced a shift in their own engagements after British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak revealed a general election would take place on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

The Buckingham Palace announcements said, “Following the Prime Minister’s statement this afternoon calling a general election, the Royal Family will – in accordance with normal procedure – postpone engagements that may appear to divert attention or distract from the election campaign.”

“Their Majesties send their sincere apologies to any of those who may be affected as a result.” the statement added.

The statement said engagements that "may appear to divert attention or distract from the election campaign" will be canceled.

After the major announcement, the elections in the UK are set to be held on 4th of July, the doubts were raised over upcoming main royal events in June, including King Charles and Queen Camilla’s state visit to Japan, Trooping the Colour

But, the King Charles trip to France for D-Day commemoration has been confirmed as planned on June 6.
