Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s nominee for president on Sunday, July 21.

Questions have been raised after the announcement by the president regarding the new nominations for the White House and vice president.

The current vice president, Kamala Harris, has emerged as a strong candidate for the president’s office. Several Democratic members and even Biden himself have endorsed her to succeed him.

Meanwhile, following Harris's most likely presidential nomination, several candidates are now in the running for the vice presidential spot, including Governor of Pennsylvania Josh Shapiro and Arizona U.S. Senator Mark Kelly.

Shapiro also endorsed Harris on Sunday, saying, “I’ve known Kamala Harris for nearly two decades—we've both been prosecutors, we’ve both stood up for the rule of law, we’ve both fought for the people and delivered results. Kamala Harris is a patriot worthy of our support, and she will continue the work of generations of Americans… She has served the country honorably as Vice President, and she is ready to be President.”

On the other hand, Kelly also backed up Harris with a post on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “I couldn’t be more confident that Vice President @KamalaHarris is the right person to defeat Donald Trump and lead our country into the future. She has my support for the nomination, and Gabby and I will do everything we can to elect her President of the United States.”

However, it is too early to make any predictions about the vice president nominees, as the nomination process will now unfold at the Democratic convention scheduled for mid-August.
