Matthew Macfadyen confesses regret over playing ‘Pride & Prejudice’ role

Matthew Macfadyen has made shocking confession about his in the 2005 film adaptation of Pride & Prejudice.

In a recent interview on CBS Mornings, Matthew Macfadyen revealed his regrets over not fully enjoying his experience playing the iconic role of Mr. Darcy in the Pride & Prejudice.

"I didn't really [enjoy it]," Macfadyen admitted. 

He went on to share, "I feel bad saying that. There were moments I had a good time, but I wish I enjoyed it more. I wish I was less worried about it."

Macfadyen also expressed feeling miscast in the role, saying, "I felt a bit miscast, like, 'I'm not dishy enough.' But it worked out."

Despite his initial confessions, Macfadyen acknowledged the film's success and the enduring recognition he receives for the role. 

"The most flattering thing that happens to me now is people say, 'Were you Mr. Darcy?' It's a good 20 years later. So I think, 'I can't be aging that badly,'" he expressed.

Pride & Prejudice, based on Jane Austen novel, also starred Brenda Blethyn, Donald Sutherland, Jena Malone, Tom Hollander, Rosamund Pike, and many more.

Matthew Macfadyen wiil be next seen in Deadpool & Wolverine, which is slated to hit cinemas on July 26.
