Matt Damon gives fellow girl dads his 'best advice'

Matt Damon shared his best fatherhood tips in a podcast

Matt Damon has some top-notch tips for all dads who are raising daughters!

As a dad of four, the Oppenheimer star shared some parenting tips with the fellow fathers while making an appearance in the latest episode of SiriusXM’s Radio Andy on Thursday, August 1, 2024.

When the host, Andy Cohen, asked the Small Things Like These actor to give him some of his best advice for being a girl dad, Damon replied, “Oh, man. I don’t know. I wouldn’t deign to give anybody advice other than I just try to listen and be helpful.”

“I mean, ultimately, it’s about building self-esteem,” he added.

The actor further continued, “You know, 99% of the decisions they make, you’re not gonna be there, right?”

Damon, who shares three daughters, Isabella, Gia, and Stella, with wife Luciana Barroso, is also stepfather to Alexia, whom his wife shares with her ex-husband, Arbello Barosso.

As the host went on to ask the Stillwater actor about how he would respond if his daughter brought over her boyfriend at home, Damon swiftly rejected the typical, overprotective father image.

“I’m fine. I’m cool with that. You know what I mean?”

The IF actor then noted that the overprotective father stereotype is often exaggerated and joked among the dads, but he personally dismisses it.

“You know, at least, our [25-year-old] has, you know, she’s got this incredible boyfriend who Lucy and I just love,” said Damon, adding, “We adore the guy, and to see that she’s making those kinds of choices, really, it’s as good as it gets.”
