Drake is set to face Universal Music Group (UMG) in a weeks-long trial over Kendrick Lamar's diss track Not Like Us.
As reported by People magazine, on Wednesday, April 9, the God's Plan rapper's legal defence stated that "settlement discussions have not taken place."
According to the court documents, the case is expected to be presented before a jury and is estimated to last for almost three weeks in New York.
Initially, the conflict began when Lamar released Not Like Us in May 2024, during a public feud between the rappers, which consisted of multiple tracks directed at each other from both sides.
In the Grammy-winning track, the 37-year-old rapper referred to Drake as "certified paedophile," sending shock waves throughout the hip-hop industry.
The song became a cultural phenomenon and garnered attention world wide, eventually landing Lamar a spot at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show in February, where he performed a censored version of the track.
In a previous filing, Drake's attorneys refused UMG's claims that Lamar's lyrics were his opinion and did not represent the record label.
The lawyers shared a statement, alleging that "UMG completely ignores the Complaint's allegations that millions of people, all over the world, did understand [the song] as a factual assertion that [Drake] is a paedophile."
Notably, Drake released music video for his latest song Nokia, on March 31, which many fans believe is a direct hit at Kendrick Lamar's video for Not Like Us.
