It’s a heartbreaking moment for Jimmy Kimmel fans.

In a shocking update, Disney’s ABC has announced that it is pulling the 57-year-old American TV host and comedian’s show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, off air after his controversial remark about the recent killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

What did Jimmy Kimmel say about Charlie Kirk?

On the Monday episode of his famous late-night show, the comedian mentioned the recent horrifying killing of Kirk in his opening monologue, saying that Tyler Robinson – the man accused of killing the 31-year-old activist – was aligned with President Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.

“The MAGA Gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving,” he stated.

ABC axes Jimmy Kimmel Live:

Speaking to NBC News on Wednesday, September 17, an ABC spokesperson revealed, “Jimmy Kimmel Live will be pre-empted indefinitely.”

Moreover, Nexstar Media Inc., which owns and partners TV stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network, stated that it will “preempt ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ for the foreseeable future, beginning with tonight’s show.”

They added that the company “strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets.”

The shocking action by ABC and Nexstar Media came on the heels of Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr’s threat that the agency could “take action” against Disney and ABC over the comment.

Charlie Kirk death:

Charlie Kirk was shot dead at age 31 during his appearance at Utah Valley University, where he was addressing a large outdoor gathering hosted by his nonprofit, conservative political organization Turning Point USA.
