In a shocking new update, Kiefer Sutherland has been arrested.
On Tuesday, January 13, The Statesman reported that the Designated Survivor star was taken into custody for allegedly attacking a ride-share driver.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 59-year-old British-Canadian actor was arrested shortly after midnight on Monday, January 12, on suspicion of criminal threats and assault.
The incident took place at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood and is under investigation by the LAPD's Hollywood Division.
As per the investigation, Sutherland entered a ride-share vehicle and physically assaulted the driver, along with making criminal threats towards him.
“The investigation determined that the suspect, later identified as Kiefer Sutherland, entered a ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats toward the victim,” police said in a statement.
Furthermore, the authorities noted that the victim did not suffer any serious injury that would require medical attention.
It is worth noting that Kiefer Sutherland was released just a few hours later after paying a bail of $50,000.
The Stand By Me star, who is the son of late actor Donald Sutherland, has been in trouble with the law several times.
In 2007, he spent 48 days in jail for drunk driving and breaking probation, followed by getting arrested for assault in 2009, but the charges were dropped.
Kiefer Sutherland’s most recent arrest was in 2020 for making an illegal U-turn in Hollywood.
