Warner Bros. and DC have dropped a new trailer for Supergirl, featuring Milly Alcock battling Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts), and the actress has broken her silence over backlash she would receive for playing a female superhero.
Talking to Vanity Fair, the 25-year-old, who gained fame for playing young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, noted, "It definitely made me aware that simple existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on."
"We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women's bodies. I can't really stop them. I can only be myself," she added.
Alcock's Supergirl debuted in Superman (2025), which launched James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC Universe on the big screen.
The trailer for the highly anticipated movie kicked off with a conversation between Superman (David Corenswet) and Supergirl, in which he tried to guide her through tough times.
"Hey, I was just touching base to see when you think you might be coming back," he says.
Davis continued, "You know, I'm just worried that you're not going to find your stride here if you keep going off world all the time, Kara. I'm worried you're not going to find your people."
Supergirl responds, "Yeah, well, that's the thing, Clark. I have no people," later adding that "home is wherever" her beloved Krypto the Superdog is, whom fans saw in Superman.
However, things take a horrific turn when Krypto is poisoned by the henchmen of villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, giving Kara Zor-El only three days to save her dog.
Helmed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, Supergirl is scheduled to hit theatres on June 26.
