Miley Cyrus won her first-ever Grammy for ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’ last night, on February 4, but gave the moment’s significance away to singer Mariah Carey instead.

Competing against strong names, like Doja Cat (Paint the Town Red), Billie Eilish (What Was I Made For?), Olivia Rodrigo (Vampire), and Taylor Swift (Anti-Hero), her win for the 2023 hit Flowers came as a surprise to everyone.

Mariah was invited to present the category, and as soon as Miley’s name was announced, she made it to the stage in an utter state of shock.

Evidently star-struck from looking at Mariah, the Wrecking Ball singer said, “I’m gonna stand by this MC for this because this is just too iconic. Oh my God, I just got stuck in the rain and traffic and thought I was gonna miss this moment.”

“I could have missed the award. That’s fine but not Mariah Carey. I just saw you at the Hollywood Bowl. It was everything I got sat in my lucky number three seat,” she added.

Since then, many people on the web have said that they are both surprised and disappointed to know that this is Miley’s first Grammy win ever.

Prior to 2024, she was only nominated Bangerz and Montero.
