Shah Rukh Khan has revealed that he was offered a role in the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire, but ended up passing on the role.

Talking at the World Government Summit 2024 in Dubai, King Khan shared that director Danny Boyle offered him the role of the host of the gameshow Kaun Banega Crorepati in the mega-hit film, which eventually went to fellow Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor.

SRK, who at the time was actually hosting the same show in India, revealed the reason behind him turning down the coveted role as his commitment to the game show itself.

As per Pinkvilla, Shah Rukh was not comfortable with the ‘dishonest and deceitful’ character of the show host in the film, and said, “I was cheating and being dishonest as the host (in the movie). So, I just found that it’s very strange that I’m being a host (on KBC) and I’m cheating in the film.”

“So, I explained to Mr Boyle that I wouldn’t like to do it, please, and there are way better actors than me. And I think Mr Anil Kapoor did it and he was fantastic as the host,” Shah Rukh further said.

It is pertinent to mention that Shah Rukh has never appeared in a Hollywood production, but he is arguably the biggest Bollywood star; he had three major releases in 2023, Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, all of which went on to be commercial successes.
