Triptii Dimri reflected on a long discussion with her parents about doing an intimate scene with Ranbir Kapoor in crime-thriller film Animal.
During an exclusive conversation with Vogue India, the Qala actress recalled her parents’ reaction after watching steamy scene with Ranbir in Animal, who according to Triptii were completely rattled.
“My parents were completely rattled when they saw it. We had to have a long discussion on why that scene was crucial,” told Triptii to the outlet.
She went on to explain, how she defended the scene in front of her parents saying, “I know my reasons for doing the film. Sandeep sir [director Sandeep Reddy Vanga] was clear that it was going to be a small role, but I found the character interesting.”
Triptii further added, “If we start making decisions based on what audiences are going to say, then as actors, we won’t ever be able to do what we want to do. I want to choose roles that push me out of my comfort zone. There’s a lot of advice on offer and I listen to it all, but it comes down to instinct. I might make mistakes along the way, but I’m allowed to.”
She also walked down the memory lane to the time, when she was called on stage by her father at a colony event, to address the audience right after Laila Majnu had released.
“He just wanted to show off, but I went blank. That’s how afraid I was. It’s taken a lot of time for me to get used to being in the public eye.”
However, prior to the film’s release on December 1, 2023, the Central Board of Film Certification made eight edits recommendations to Animal.
Among those changes was a supposed intimate sequence between Triptii Dimri's Zoya and Ranbir's Rannvijay Singh, nicknamed Vijay, which was removed.
