Pope Francis appealed to put an end to Gaza-Israel war during his Saturday’s speech at the Angelus prayer in Rome.
As reported by NDTV, Francis, who has been in recovery after suffering from bronchitis pleaded, “Each day I carry in my heart with pain the suffering of the populations in Palestine and Israel due to the ongoing hostilities, thousands of dead, injured, displaced.”
He added, "Do you really think you can build a better world in this way? Do you really think you will achieve peace? Enough please! Let us all say enough please! Stop!"
For the unversed, Israel has been conducting thousands of air-strikes in Gaza since October 2023, resulting in the killing of nearly 30,000 Palestinians (including over 10,000 minors) as of February 29.
This plea from Pope Francis comes shortly after he was taken to a Rome hospital on Wednesday, after he skipped reading at his weekly audience, as he was suffering from "a bit of cold".
Pope Francis has been going through multiple health scars in past few months, he was forced to cancel a planned trip to a COP28 climate meeting in Dubai in December due to lung inflammation.
While in January, he was unable to complete a speech as he was affected by "a touch of bronchitis
