Oscars 2024 celebrated a remarkable Indian achievement with Raj Kapoor serving as its executive producer and showrunner.
Hailing from Delhi, the media personality is a television producer for live programs and currently holds Canadian nationality.
In a statement released after the award show’s production team was announced last year, he said alongside co-creator Katy Mullan:
“As a Canadian boy of South Asian descent and a girl from London who grew up watching the Oscars, dreaming of being part of it, this is a ‘pinch me’ moment!”
“It’s an absolute privilege to be leading the team celebrating the global film industry and the astounding talents that bring these cinematic stories to life,” they added.
Raj studied English and Drama at the University of Alberta situated in Canada.
Extending this interest further, he has been producing shows since 24 years now, including working as an Oscars employee for the last seven years.
There are six Emmy Award nominations in his bag so far, and a win for creating an Outstanding Pre-Recorded Variety Special named Adele One Night Only.
It featured the English singer’s live concert at the Griffith Observatory and an interview with Oprah Winfrey, which was another triumph for Raj.
