Imtiaz Ali has said that Ranbir Kapoor is a star who doesn’t look for reasons to portray a role. It’s pure inclination to the profession.
Sitting for a recent interview with Mashable India, he said, “In Greek language, the word for talent and interest are the same. He has so much interest in this work that it has become the base of his talent.”
“That is why he is so talented because he is actually interested. Even if you don’t make a film, just give him a scene, and he will keep acting. This means that he doesn’t need a reason to act,” the filmmaker continued.
According to him, Ranbir doesn’t sit waiting for the right script to come by nor is his love for acting influenced by choosing movies that will perform well.
Imtiaz uncorked the actor’s mind, stating, “He doesn’t think, ‘If something good comes, then I will act.’ So I think that is interesting.”
Recalling the time when the two of them were discussing a potential movie’s storyline, he said that Ranbir instead brought up Rockstar with a keen interest and even started narrating its script.
“He said, ‘Sir, there is a story of yours I heard from a friend. You wanted to make it with John (Abraham) at that time.’ The narration of the film happened with him telling me the story. I was looking at him and thinking, ‘If this guy does this film, it would be so nice,’ ” the director recalled.
This is in fact how Rockstar was made with Ranbir being cast as the lead.
His yearning for acting is often brought up by critics and fans alike. Except for Saawariya and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, he has earned acclaim for all of his performances. The actor also always wins quizzes related to movies and their songs.
