MS Dhoni has stepped down from the captaincy at Chennai Super Kings, the team announced on Thursday, March 21.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will be the new captain of the CSK, Times of India reported.

Gaikwad has been part of the team since 2019, and has played 52 matches, scoring 1797 runs with a strike rate of 135.52 and an average of 39.06.
Dhoni has been the captain of the Chennai Super Kings since the beginning of Indian Premier League in 2008.
The 42-year-old cricketer handed over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja a couple of years ago in 2022.
However, when it ‘didn’t work out’, he took the leadership back after eight matches.
After last year’s IPL finals, Dhoni hinted that he is likely to feature in his last season of IPL.
Team coach Stephen Fleming said, “His knees are in better shape than it was last year. And hopefully he will play. He is batting quite well at the nets though.”
Dhoni has captained CSK in 212 IPL matches, with the team winning 128 matches and 5 IPL titles.
Dhoni is considered one the most successful skipper in the IPL, sharing the record of winning 5 IPL trophies with Rohit Sharma.
