‘Crew’: Ila Arun was told about ‘Choli Ke Peeche’ remake 5 minutes before launch
Ila Arun suggested directors should create fresh songs for new generation

Ila Arun has revealed that makers from Crew notified her about remaking her lionized song, Choli Ke Peeche, just five minutes before releasing it.

Speaking to India Today, she begun by attesting that music label Tips shares a good relationship with her, yet despite that, nobody from the company informed her earlier.

The singer said, “I would be in no position to refuse, but ethically, it’s wrong. If they had just spoken to me about it, it would have felt good. They called me five minutes before the launch and asked my blessing.”

“What else I could do except give my blessings? I was dumbfounded but couldn’t ask why have you done this? My reaction to the song is exactly what Alka Yagnik’s reaction is,” she added.

Then, Ila ji moved ahead to address the regressive nature of Bollywood remakes.

Praising lyricist Anand Bakshi, composers Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Madhuri Dixit, and Neena Gupta, she described Choli Ke Peeche’s original version as an “iconic” track.

About the Crew’s version, the vocalist stated, “They say it’s a new thing to reach out to the younger generation. But why should we? Why can’t they just create their own number?”

She concluded by suggesting that directors should make new powerful songs to satisfy the younger generation instead of rehashing older tunes.

Fans agree with this advice as they think that remakes don’t make the new generation happy, and they end up disgruntling the older folks, too, so it’s a case of wrecking your own house twice.
