Salman Khan asked everyone to throw hot sand at him: Anil Mehta recalls

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’s cinematographer, Anil Mehta, has revealed that Salman Khan had asked people to cover him in burning sand after laying down in the desert for Tadap Tadap Ke shoot.

In a chat with Film Companion, the personality recounted, “I remember, in the desert, Salman just went with the scene. Otherwise, which hero is going to lie down in the hot sand and ask people to put that sand on him?”

“He was doing it himself, and that’s also infectious. You are drawing from that energy. He started doing some random stuff,” he added.

These random things in particular were cursing at the sky, fighting with earth, and falling down head-first.

Salman’s devotion to make the music video better was in fact so contagious that Anil threw himself in the act as well, then even went ahead to include a very risky shot.

He shared, “So, I took the camera off the tripod. I was with Salman in that moment. I soaked in from what he was doing, and later, the camera also points at the sun which was a ‘no, no’ at the time. Today, it is the norm.”

Tadap Tadap Ke remains one of the most devastating heartbreak songs to come from Bollywood’s chamber.

Its video, which stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan alongside the superstar, is an equally painful watch as every single moment was directed painstakingly.
