Fardeen Khan is returning to acting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming period drama series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.
Netflix took fans by surprise on Saturday when its Instagram profile dropped the actor’s first look as an odd saint for this grand story.
Revealing his character’s name, the caption stated, “Caught in a whirlwind struggle of love and duty, Wali Mohammed attempts to reconcile his heart’s desire with his royal responsibilities.”
While the plot is easily guessable, this remains an unusual collaboration as well as an incredibly new avatar for Fardeen, who only ever appeared in romantic movies when he was actively working in Bollywood.
The 2009 action thriller, Acid Factory, is one such exception on the star’s filmography where his part didn’t have any sort of a love story background, although his role was still named Romeo.
14 years ago, he had made his last appearance in Dulha Mil Gaya, which flopped big time despite being marketed with Shah Rukh Khan’s face.
This wasn’t a new thing for Fardeen since the work he did would usually not perform well at the box office.
Along with poor acting skills, this is the main reason why he was easily forgotten by the Hindi industry as soon as he disappeared.
In a 2022 interview, the celebrity mentioned that during the prolonged break, he was coping with the death of his father and two twins with wife Natasha.
But now back in shape, he has planned big moves for 2024 with Heeramandi and a horror crime named Visfot.
