King Charles is ready to witness his face circulate on banknotes, starting June 5, 2024.

He was presented with fresh printings of the newly designed £5, £10, £20, and £50 bills that have his portrait punched down on them.

This is with respect to the long Royal tradition of monarchs being shown the first issue of paper money.

The existing notes branded with Queen Elizabeth II’s image will however continue rolling around, going hand-in-hand with the newer ones.

King Charles has not been actively involved in large public dealings ever since his cancer diagnosis was announced, but participation in such small events continue, where he was shown the money printing by Andrew Bailey, who is Bank of England’s governor.

According to BBC, Bailey informed that this was the first time that they had to change the face on banknotes as the late Elizabeth was the first one to have her picture on them.

“This is what is so surprising. You would think that it goes back,” the Monarch reacted, describing the sketched out design as a “very elegant” update.

His photo that has been featured on the currency paper was taken all the way back in 2013 and, unlike his mother, he’s not wearing a crown for the occasion.
