Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, and Imran Abbas had once been considered for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web series, Heeramandi.
Present at the Los Angeles premiere of his new show, the director was in conversation with Lilly Singh, where he shared his initial vision.
“This was 18 years ago. At one point, it was Rekha ji, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukerji. It changed into another cast, then another,” he recalled, adding that Heeramandi was actually supposed to be a movie, but couldn’t materialize that way.
Moving on, Sanjay Leela Bhansali pointed that he had once planned of casting Pakistani actors, Imran Abbas, Fawad Khan, and Mahira Khan, but “it all changed.”
This was because the story is such a crisscross in itself that it took him 18 years to finally get it rolling.
Touching on the same, Imran Abbas recently revealed at ARY’s Ramadan show, Shan-e-Suhoor, that the filmmaker had approached him for the series.
He recounted, “I did not refuse that, but it was shelved at the time.”
The celebrity had also stated of being offered a character in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish that was ultimately given to Aditya Roy Kapur.
Although everyone trolled him upon disclosing this information because of disbelief, now that the director has said it in his own words, fan have accepted that he was telling the truth.
